8 Reads to Celebrate Book Lovers Day

August 1, 2024

By Christa Protano

Love books? Then be sure to mark your calendar for August 9th, aka National Book Lovers Day. This is the perfect opportunity to put down the smart phones, turn off the screens, and start sharing your favorite pastime with your little one. In keeping with the theme, we recommend adding a few reads about L-O-V-E to story time, day or night. Take your pick from these eight sweet board books.

ABC I Love You

If you are looking for a different way to say “I love you,” this title has you covered from A to Z with 26 pages of sweet sentiments. This perfect first-alphabet book includes colorful illustrations, playful text and large graphic letters to help introduce your baby to the ABCs.

I’ll Love You Every Day

Morning, noon, or night, this book provides the opportunity to slow down and have a sweet moment with your child. While it may seem like you’ll never get a minute to yourself, those school days are just around the corner, so use this book to make the most of this special time.

I Love You So

This book is all about the snuggles, as you can probably tell by its cover. Each lift-the-flap page helps develop motor skills while celebrating the bond between parent and child. There is also no shortage of adorably illustrated baby bunnies, bear cubs, and foxes.

I Love You, My Cuddle Bug

Leave it to the national best-selling You’re My Little series to turn caterpillars, butteries and lady bugs into a newborn’s BFFs. Based on the board book You’re My Little Cuddle Bug, this beautiful picture book features illustrator Natalie Marshall’s adorable signature characters paired with heartfelt rhyming text. This book is perfect for parents to share with their little one to celebrate the special love between a parent and child.

I’ll Love You More

It could be said that the cuteness in this book will rival that of your own newborn … just kidding. But joking aside, there are some books that as a parent you will want to hold onto forever. I’ll Love You More is one of those books. There is even space on the inside front cover to write a personal valentine to your little love bug.

A Long Time That I’ve Loved You

From best-selling author Margaret Wise Brown, most known for the beloved Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny, comes a tale of a cute little bear and his mom on a beautiful spring day. From the flowers blooming to birds chirping, Wise crafts the ultimate love letter from mother to her child in this colorful board book.

A Little Love

After a day at the petting zoo, consider cozying up with this farm-inspired read where mama and baby animals take center stage. In this hands-on board book, die-cut pages and touch-and-feel elements the likes of a calf’s soft back and a chick’s fuzzy wing create a sensory experience for infants and toddlers.

Love From Me To You

This heartwarming board book adds a splash of color to any child’s bookshelf. But don’t judge this title by its cover only—inside is a sweet, rhyming story that teaches children what it means to love and be loved. What’s more, detailed die-cuts and layered pages will keep little hands engaged while mom or dad does the reading.
