4 Art Books to Save for a Rainy Day

August 19, 2022

By: Christa Protano

It’s the end of summer and I feel like my mom bag of tricks is almost empty. Thankfully, the weather has been mostly sunny so we haven’t spent much time stuck indoors. That said, I still like to have a few new coloring and activity books on-hand for a rainy day or some screen-free downtime. These four creative sets check all the boxes, from traditional coloring to liquid chalk art.

Sticker Collection Must-Have

There is no shortage of smiling tacos, caticorns, narwhals and other adorable creatures in #SoCute! Color-In Stickers. What’s more, kids can customize these stickers any way they want. Just grab some markers and get started coloring more than 200 stickers, including glitter and foil ones too. This book also comes with 64 pages of activities the likes of mazes and dot-to-dot.

Handwriting Helper

If your older child has a creative side, encourage their artistic skills with Focus on the Good: A Step-by-Step Hand Lettering Book. This spiral-bound book features easy how-tos for various handwriting techniques and alphabet designs. With three double-sided colored pencils, six stencil sheets, and more than 50 stickers, this guide will keep them busy with decorating their new school supplies, birthday cards and more.

Coloring On-The-Go

We love the Dino-Roar! Coloring & Activity Book because you can stash it in your carryall for instant entertainment when you need it most. Restaurants, family visits, airports … a handy removable pouch keeps all its markers in place, and a spiral-bound hard cover makes it easy for kids to doodle and color on their laps. Did we mention the friendly dinosaurs? Kids will love them the most.

Chalk It Up

When it’s raining outside, Illumination Chalk Art lets you bring the sidewalk art indoors without the mess. This kit includes six liquid chalk markers, along with tips on how to use them to create a stunning masterpiece. Midnight blue pages allow for images of nature, planets and animals to really pop, and customizable stickers make for a one-of-a-kind piece of art that can be torn out and displayed in any room.
