Kisses for Kindergarten

April 19, 2017

Written by Livingstone Crouse
Illustrated by Macky Pamintuan

School is about to begin, and Stella Isabella Harden decides that kindergarten just isn't for her. Instead, she decides to spend the day learning from her puppy named Buster. Together these two adventurers plan a day full of playtime, teatime, naptime, and storytime. After every "lesson," Stella gets the best reward: a kiss from her best friend and favorite puppy. But will she change her mind about kindergarten before the first day of school?

What reviewers are saying about Kisses for Kindergarten:

“A perfect read for kiddos nervous about their first day of school.”
Booklist, May 1, 2017

“Pamintuan’s digital illustrations bring out the duo’s love and their exuberance.”

“Pamintuan captures this tender girl-and-dog friendship in splashy, cinematic scenes.”
Publishers Weekly, May 27, 2017

“The first day of kindergarten can be hard and Kisses for Kindergarten provides a sweet story to help with this big transition. We like the rhyming text, fun illustrations and the full-color poster with kindergarten checklist.”
— Elena Epstein, NAPPA Director

"This story is fun and the rhymes march to a nice cadence. Perfect to add to any library collection."
— Ryan F., Librarian

"The illustrations are stunning (I applaud you Macky Pamintuan), and the author has written two lovable characters who face the fear of many little people as they begin their kindergarten year."
— Allison W., Librarian

"This is a wonderful book for a read aloud to a young child preparing for kindergarten. A wonderful book for a family library."
— Carla J., Educator

Kisses for Kindergarten is a 2017 NAPPA Winner and a 2017 Mom's Choice Awards, Gold Award Recipient.

This story sounds so much like my independent, little granddaughter who will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Would love to give this book to her. She is a voracious reader and would love to read about a kindergartner just like her!
